The reality is that I have been a bit unfaithful - and actually started a new blog: Some Like It Chewy!.
I realized that most of my posts were starting to be non-yoga related and that Yoga & Yonder was really starting to lose its focus. My friends were getting confused, and it was getting far too easy for me to be distracted from yoga. I'm going to work on being disciplined and having Y&Y focus a lot more on yoga.
That being said; as an update....
A broken knee. |
Yes, I have a fractured my knee. I did so in Niseko, Japan while skiing - you can find out more about this trip and my ski accident by clicking here. Here is a quick sample picture for you!
Niseko is absolutely breathtaking - definitely worth a visit. Just take care on those slopes and buy travel insurance!
Spring time Niseko (March 2012). |
Ever the optimist, the good news is that there is good potential that I will avoid surgery, and I attribute this in large part to yoga.
I fell while skiing, in quite a contorted manner and I remember experiencing that "oh no $#@!" moment when I felt my knee bend in a super unnatural manner.
Initially, I thought that I had torn something - a ligament or a muscle.
But after the MRI scan, it was discovered that I had fractured my knee, but the fragment was being supported in place by my ligaments which were holding strong.
If it were not for the flexibility gained from regular yoga, I would probably have also torn my ligament(s), the fragment would have been dislodged and I would most likely have required surgery.
Sadly, whatever yoga I'm going to be practicing these next 1.5 months will be limited at best; given that I'm going to be in this itchy cast and dependent on crutches for the next 6 weeks; followed by a brace.
Sigh.
But still - I'm choosing to count my lucky stars!
