Yoga & Yonder - What this Blog is meant to be about.

For years I have been thinking that I should start a blog.

Obviously, given that it has been years, there has been some procrastination.

So, today, on the 30th of April 2011 (a lovely Saturday I might add) I sat down and started a blog by signing up with www.blogger.com.  It took a surprising 3 minutes to set up a blog - the beauty of the internet has provided us with a world of instant gratification at our fingertips.

"What have I been waiting so long for ?!" I asked myself, as I sped through reading clicking (the "I agree" button of) the terms and conditions and selecting my preferred template.

This all came to a halt when I arrived at an incredibly blank screen with that flashing line to tell us where to start typing (what do you call this line? There has to be a term for this flashing line that a good many of us start our days staring at). It took me another 15 mins of deliberation and distraction (ASOS is still shipping to Singapore free) before I got down to work. So here we are - I'm happy to say that I am officially a blogger.

To be honest, it was not all that easy. As with most things, it took me a surprisingly long time to think about and figure out what type of blogger I would be and what I would blog about. So, in my defense, I have indeed made full use of my procrastination.

Although I subscribe to many, I am not confident that I am one who wants to maintain a blog solely based on her generic life experiences and opinions. I have nothing against such bloggers and in fact respect a good number of them, but I decided that I wanted my first blogging experience to not just be about what I did / thought / felt today or yesterday, but also to encourage and document my progress and development as a recreational yoga practitioner.

Yoga is definitely one of my key hobbies next to shopping and skincare; but unlike shopping and skincare (of which I think I should foster more restraint than anything else) it is a passion I believe there is room for much improvement.

Hence the name I granted this blog: "Yoga & Yonder". The term "yoga" used for the reasons stated above; and "yonder" for all other topics I would like to blog about. Just in case you are curious, it is "Yoga & Yonder" and not "Yonder & Yoga" just because it sounds better.

This is a good start; and I very much hope that I will be able to keep it up!

Welcome to the world "Yoga & Yonder"!
